How to get loyal customers?

order-history

For the last 8 years, I have been a loyal customer to this brand.

And I spent Rs. 46,395 buying leather products from them.

Yes, you heard that right.

Here’s why

<Plus the lessons you can learn to get loyal customers for your business>.

Back in 2015 when I was staying in Pondicherry, I was looking to buy a leather bag to carry my laptop and work accessories. But not just any leather bag, I wanted to buy something that’s functional and at the same time stylish.

I can’t remember exactly but it was either through Facebook or Google, I came across this website selling leather products manufactured in Chennai.

They had a small collection of products, however, they had exactly the bag I was looking to buy. A combination of leather and handwoven ikat fabric.

When the bag got delivered, I unboxed the backpack and absolutely loved it.

Leather bag from Postbox

The quality of the leather, fabric and stitching was all top notch.

Being priced at around Rs. 2000, definitely made it a great deal. I still have it after 9 years and it still looks incredible.

Fast forward to 2021, I was wanting to buy a gift for my wife after not seeing her for 2 months due to Covid. She’s a teacher so the first thought that came to my mind was a bag that would be perfect for her to take to school.

The second thought was the name of the brand I had previously purchased leather products from. It was “Thepostbox”. I went on their website and found this beautiful leather bag, plus a tech and accessories kit that she would love.

When I surprised her with these gifts, she absolutely loved them and still uses them to this day.

So how can you, the business owner, get loyal customers for many years to come?

Here are three things I learned that you can use to apply them to your business:

1.) Keeping your customers' needs in mind when you design and create products for them

If you look at the products from the Postbox, you’ll see that they have really worked hard on achieving a perfect combination of design and functionality. Their products are all thought out, designed and engineered well.

Are your products designed keeping your customers in mind? Are they designed to last long? What are you doing to make sure your products keep improving over time?

2.) Improve or upgrade your products over time by getting their feedback

When you are shopping on their website, you’ll notice that they have versions like 2.0 or 3.0 of their best selling products.

This means that they are upgrading their products for their customers. Each version brings a better design or functionality based on your customers’ feedback.

3.) Quality of products always results in repeat customers

Let’s be honest. Have you ever bought low quality products again and again?

The answer is “No”. Just like I have made repeat purchases from the Postbox over the years, you must have too once you found high quality products. So, why not offer the same quality you expect when you buy products from other brands?

Great quality products win over your customers, which makes them come back again and again.

Now, I want to hear from you!

What are you doing to ensure you have repeat customers on your site? What percentage of your customers are return customers and what percentage of your customers are new customers?
